Marcella Rose

"Original oil painting of a Nokota horse. One of the endangered wild horses in North Dakota. A decendant of Sitting Bulls horse. A percentage of proceeds  from this sale go to the Nokota Conservancy. I fell in love with these gentle giants.  I have created a series of oil paintings titled 'Song of Nokotas,' wild horses of North Dakota, where I am donating a portion of my sales to support the preservation of Nokota horses. For more information on the Nokota horse, please view and read about 'Vanishing Knowledge,' a heartfelt movie directed by Ejaz Kahn to raise awareness and protection for these compassionate souls. Upon visiting the herd of mares and studs on a ranch at Linton North Dakota, I was compelled to participate in saving this breed of gentle original horses of the west."

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Marcella Rose

Marcella Rose traces her artistic roots and love for the natural world back to her formative years growing up on a western Minnesota farm. Following graduation from Minnesota State, Moorhead, Marcella’s art career carried her to Phoenix, Kansas City and Spokane, designing, sculpting and illustrating for major licensing companies. Acting upon a longstanding desire to focus on her core passion for the fine arts, she then moved to Santa Fe. ART Business News magazine shortly thereafter published an article about Marcella's sculpture inspiration for 'Spirit Rising.’ Her art likewise has been featured in several western art magazines. More re cently, her sculpture was juried into the international 'Wisdom Across the Ages' exhibition created in concert with the online ASWM, ( Association for the Study of Women & Mythology) Symposium (July 16-18, 2021) in honor of the late Dr. Marija Gimbutas. In both 2014 and 2015, Marcella was commissioned by the National Bison Association to sculpt its Gold Trophy Award, presented to the group’s ‘Producer of the Year.’ She was a featured artist at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum in 2013, and has participated in a variety of solo and group exhibitions around the Midwest, Northwest and Southwest.
