Kent Burkhardsmeier began photographing landscape nature fulltime in 2015. His photographic art has been featured in solo, joint, and group exhibitions in North Dakota, Florida, London, and Cuba. In 2020, he began writing poetry inspired by his images — publishing two photo-poem books (STILLNESS: Whispers From Nature and AWARENESS: Whispers From Nature) in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

His work has received international recognition. His Chinese landscape series ‘Essence of Huangshan’ won the prestigious Gold Award (1st Place) in Landscape Professional category and Bronze Award (3rd Place) in Fine Art Professional category at the 2023 refocus Awards | Black & White Photo Contest.

Leading photography publishing house, LensWork Publishing, has featured Burkhardmeier’s works within their 2016 and 2019 Seeing in SIXES books, their 2020 Our Magnificent Planet book, and their 2023 book Light, Glorious Light!

He enjoys collaborating with other artists. In 2019, he collaborated with the acclaimed Bismarck abstract artist, Jessica Wachter. The Capital Gallery’s 2019 joint exhibition ‘connected.’ featured original artwork that combined his images and Wachter’s abstract artistry.

Burkhardsmeier developed an appreciation for the outdoors and learned photography while growing up in North Dakota. Since 2021, he has been traveling, exploring, and photographing North America living fulltime in a recreational vehicle with his wife, Susan.
